Job Purpose: Provide personalized, one-on-one physical therapy care within Cynergy’s holistic rehabilitation model. Evaluate and treat patients across orthopedic, postoperative, and performance-based conditions while fostering lasting improvements in strength, mobility, and well-being.
Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT)
Active Physical Therapy license in the state of New York
Strong clinical knowledge of orthopedic and postoperative rehabilitation protocols
Excellent hands-on skills and commitment to delivering personalized, one-on-one patient care
Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities
Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment

Job Purpose: Deliver skilled, one-on-one occupational therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, and splinting, to help patients regain function and improve quality of life.
Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L or OTD) in the state of New York
Demonstrated experience in custom splinting and upper extremity rehabilitation

Cynthia Gormezano, founder and CEO of Cynergy Physical Therapy, established the practice in 2000 after launching the Pediatric Orthopedic Physical Therapy Clinic at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital. What began as a single clinic has since grown into a leading rehabilitation network across New York City, built on Cynthia’s vision for providing compassionate, one-on-one care rooted in excellence and innovation.
Cynthia Gormezano founded Cynergy Physical Therapy in 2000 after launching the Pediatric Orthopedic Physical Therapy Clinic at St. Luke’s Roosevelt. Since then, she has been a cornerstone of our clinic’s success and growth. Her extensive background in physical therapy, coupled with her commitment to ongoing learning and mastery, has made Cynthia an expert in sports injury rehabilitation and neck and back pain. As an endurance athlete and cancer survivor, Cynthia has a unique understanding of the needs of both competitive and recreational athletes. Her charitable work for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, including fundraising, keynote speaking, and participating in cycling events and triathlons across the country, reflects her dedication to improving others’ lives.

Melissa Lam’s expertise in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, biomechanics, and performance-based care has been central to Cynergy’s mission and growth over the past decade. As a key member of the leadership team, she has played an integral role in developing both clinical and marketing initiatives that reflect Cynergy’s commitment to holistic, one-on-one care.
With a background in Classical Music Performance and Economics from Gettysburg College, Melissa brings a unique perspective to her work—especially when treating musicians, singers, and dancers. Her approach extends beyond addressing symptoms; she focuses on identifying the root causes of injury to support long-term recovery and prevent reoccurrence.
By integrating her deep understanding of biomechanics and physical alignment, Melissa creates treatment plans that view the body as a whole—helping patients move more efficiently, perform with greater ease, and live with lasting balance and harmony.
Shereen Tan’s expertise in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation has been instrumental to Cynergy’s growth and reputation for excellence. A specialist in both post-surgical and conservative care, she is known for her meticulous attention to detail and ability to restore function and confidence in her patients—one hand at a time.
Her dedication to continuous learning is reflected in advanced training in orthotic fabrication with leading hand therapists from renowned institutions such as the Philadelphia Hand Center and Hospital for Special Surgery. Shereen’s mastery in custom orthoses allows her to design precise, individualized solutions that protect injuries, relieve pain, and promote lasting recovery.
Throughout her career, Shereen has treated a diverse community of athletes, performers, and active New Yorkers, including members of the SAG-AFTRA, NBA, and NHL. She collaborates closely with top surgeons and hand specialists across New York City, delivering comprehensive care rooted in expertise, empathy, and precision.
Christine Rodriguez’s leadership and expertise have been integral to Cynergy’s dedication to specialized upper extremity care. As one of the founding members of Cynergy Upper Extremity, she partnered with founder Cynthia Gormezano to expand access to advanced, one-on-one rehabilitation for complex upper extremity conditions.
A Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) and Certified Lymphedema Therapist for the Upper Extremity (CLT-UE), Christine treats a wide range of orthopedic and neurological diagnoses, including fractures, tendon injuries, arthritis, and post-surgical conditions. She holds a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from Stony Brook University and brings a deep understanding of the intricacies of upper limb function to her practice.
Inspired by her lifelong passion for music, art, and movement, Christine approaches therapy with both creativity and clinical precision—helping patients regain not just mobility, but confidence in their daily lives. Her sessions reflect her positive energy, curiosity, and holistic view of wellness.
Outside of the clinic, Christine enjoys traveling, exploring museums, and staying active, integrating her appreciation for art and culture into everything she does.
Dr. Chivonne Henriques’ expertise in orthopedic rehabilitation, dance medicine, and pelvic health reflects her lifelong passion for movement and performance. A Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), Dr. Henriques combines evidence-based practice with a patient-centered approach to help individuals restore function, prevent injury, and achieve their goals.
Her journey with Cynergy began as a student during her final semester of physical therapy school, where her experience and mentorship sparked a deep appreciation for manual therapy and one-on-one patient care. She later returned as a full-time therapist and now serves as Clinical Director of Cynergy’s Cobble Hill location, leading her team with the same commitment to excellence and compassion that has defined her career.
Dr. Henriques holds certifications in Functional Movement Screen (FMS), Graston Technique® (GT), and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), and is currently advancing her expertise in pelvic floor therapy through the Herman & Wallace Institute.
Outside of the clinic, she is an avid half-marathon runner, weightlifter, and traveler, and enjoys working with athletes, Broadway performers, and active New Yorkers who share her dedication to movement and wellness.
Dr. Laurence Agénor’s expertise in orthopedics, dance medicine, pelvic health, and clinical Pilates has been integral to Cynergy’s holistic approach to rehabilitation. Her practice focuses on helping patients—particularly those managing chronic pain—rediscover the joy of movement and restore confidence in their bodies.
As both a dancer and former dance teacher, Dr. Agénor is passionate about supporting performing artists, guiding them through injury recovery and prevention so they can continue pursuing their craft safely and sustainably. She skillfully integrates Pilates, strength training, and manual therapy into her sessions, empowering her patients with the tools to achieve lasting wellness and performance.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Agénor serves as a Pilates and Barre instructor at The Wellness Den, where she blends her physical therapy expertise with mindful movement principles in her signature, dynamic classes.
Originally from Martinique, Dr. Agénor is fluent in English and French and brings a global perspective and compassionate spirit to every patient interaction.
Dr. Alvin Dike’s expertise in orthopedic rehabilitation, manual therapy, and sports performance has been integral to Cynergy’s commitment to personalized, one-on-one care. A Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), he blends advanced clinical knowledge with a deep passion for helping patients move better, perform stronger, and return to the activities they love.
Dr. Dike’s dedication to continuous professional growth is reflected in his extensive post-graduate training and certifications in Active Release Techniques® (ART), Blood Flow Restriction Training, Functional Movement Screen (FMS), Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), and USA Weightlifting Level 1 (USAW-L1).
Having personally navigated the rehabilitation process after a knee injury, he brings empathy and firsthand understanding to every patient interaction. His approach empowers athletes, performers, and active New Yorkers to rebuild strength, prevent re-injury, and achieve lasting resilience—both in sport and in life.
