Neurological impairments applies to any condition that is caused by a dysfunction in the brain, spinal column or nervous system resulting in physical and/or psychological symptoms. Symptoms depend on where damage occurs. Areas that control movement, communication, vision, hearing or thinking can be affected. Examples of symptoms may include muscle weakness, poor coordination, loss of sensation, imbalance, vertigo, dizziness and pain. Some of the most common neurological conditions treated in outpatient physical therapy are radicular pain, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, peripheral neuropathy, Bell’s Palsy, and balance conditions.
