Maddie Irmen, PT, DPT, brings a personal understanding of the demands and joys of movement from her time as a professional dancer to her work as a physical therapist. She enjoys working collaboratively with patients and is passionate about using movement and a hands-on approach to create meaningful changes for her patients. Maddie is motivated to help her patients heal and learn about their bodies so they can return to doing the things that matter most to them.

She received her doctorate of physical therapy from Hunter College, where she was honored as the Ayers-Selman Founders Award recipient for scholarship and professional activities. Maddie has completed clinical affiliations specializing in pediatrics and dance medicine. The techniques and interconnected whole-body approach of the Institute of Physical Art strongly influence her practice. Maddie continues to further her practice with continuing education courses and is excited to pursue additional certifications.

Maddie’s passion for physical therapy grew from her experiences sharing movement as a professional modern dancer and dance teacher. She holds a BFA in Dance from The Ohio State University, and danced professionally in New York City, performing theatrical and physically demanding pieces. She also had the pleasure of teaching dance to students of all ages, striving to nourish healthy body awareness and foster creativity in her students.

Maddie loves staying moving with dancing, cycling, yoga, Pilates, and hiking. She enjoys any activity that involves her friends, wonderful fiancé, Ryan, and family!
